In Cooperation with the international society, Save the Children-Jordan, the IEEE EMBS HU Student Chapter participated in the volunteer event (organized by the Save the Children Society in Jordan) about “Combating Anemia in Pregnant and Lactating Women”. This occurred at AlMafrag , Zaatari refugee camp on February 11, 2013, the last day of their campaign; the event originally began on February 1, 2013. The total amount of attendees amounted to 13 people including 6 volunteers from our student Chapter: Zaid Al-Qaddoumi (Chairman), Yazan Al-Khatib, Ahmad Hamdan, Abdulrhman Kefayeh, Aya Salameh & Farah Mansour.
Yazan and Abdulrman roles included helping the patients fill out the blood test application and printing receipts. The laboratory technicians Khaled and Mohammad, assisted by Farah and Aya with reading the test results and open files for the Pregnant or Lactating woman with Anemia. The doctors, Khalil and Ma’an were displayed the results.
During this time, Zaid and Ahmad organized the entering/exit of over 120 patients to the lab and clinic. They were also responsible for announcing the test results, from the blood work, over the loudspeaker. In total, there were over 1000 patients who were tested within a span of (approximately) 2 weeks.
